The Healthy Futures project has been designed especially to work with young people from the ages of 11 to 18, who are at risk of substance abuse, gangs, crime or are otherwise marginalised by the community.
Using sports as an engagement tool we will work with the young people in a series of sessions over a 12 week period, providing mentoring and sports coaching, teaching problem solving, decision making,team working and communication skills. The 12 week programme will work on the core areas of…
Literacy and numeracy;
Fitness, Diet & Nutrition;
Careers & Entrepreneurship;
At the end of the project there will be a celebratory event, which will be planned and organised by the participants, and opportunities will be available for any young people who have found a passion in sports coaching to follow up the project with formal sports qualifications and voluntary work with Centre Spot.
